To the States

To the States or any one of them, or any city of the States, Resist

much, obey little,

Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved,

Once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city of this earth, ever

afterward resumes its liberty.

- Walt

Just dropped episode 12 of .

Today we discuss Eidolons by Walt Whitman... sort of. Basically I begin that way and go on a little rant about .

Hope you enjoy it. Also update the site a little and linked in every episode to the artist I use for my intro/outro music .

As I begin reading through Leaves of Grass, by Walt Whitman, I am beginning to realize:

1) How big an undertaking this book of poetry is

2) How I basically feel like writing a short essay about each poem [I have already jotted down one essay about Eidolons]

3) How I sort of would like to break this book into a few different episodes

Just finished my discussion of Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut over at . Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

One of the things I would like to eventually do with is to begin editing old/new books and republishing them in epub format.

Not just for vanity's sake, but rather to optimize them for reading on your computer or phone or ereader. So many books I've found that are great books, but the e-readability is so low, they are a pain to get through.

Welp, I decided to push the episode early today.

The Metamorphosis
by Franz Kafka

If you check out the library page, you can also get "The Metamorphosis" to read before or after listening to the episode.

Just recorded a new episode of yesterday. Today is editing day, then tomorrow is release day. I plan on going on a regular schedule of 1 episode every 2 weeks.

P.S. I don't actually edit that much because i'm not good at editing. But I will take out a few 'umms' and 'ehhs' and 'aaaaaaands'... other than that, just compression and a few other things to make it a small file and bam! Publish tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy!

I finished reading The by Franz about a week ago. Have been reading critical analysis of that novella since and will soon be recording my thoughts on as it relates to theory.

It has been a long break from the show, but I'm finally settled into my new job and have a workflow sort of worked out for the show. Be looking for an update by the end of this week.

After this week is over and things settle down at my new job, i should be able to finally sit down and record another episode of

Until then, i will keep on taking the short breaks I get an writing at

Gotta keep the mind exercised.

This day in :

December 21, 1919

Emma Goldman and 248 other anarchists were deported to Soviet Russia for their demonstrations against govt violence and the violence of the corporate powers against the working class.

Let's celebrate her fight against the powers.

Part three of The Dark Shore.

Although I haven't had time for podcasting lately, I have been using my moments before work begins to write there things out. Hopefully I will be able to get another episode out in the next couple of weeks. We'll see.

So it has been a while since I've been able to sit down and record a new episode of , but I got my schedule for my new job and in a couple of weeks, i should have time to record at least once a week.

Don't forget to read On Anarchism by Chomsky!

Who wants to help me with artwork for ?

I like the simple stuff I made, but I would love to feature a more diverse set of artwork for the different authors and even for the Club itself.

If you want to contribute, feel free to post your designs on

Ooooor, you can send them to me here, directly, but I'd like to see artwork on the community page. :jrbd: :jrbd:

So I am going to buy into decentralized and federated software hook, line, and sinker.

I created a community on for the !

Join me on there to have a focused, fun-filled, anarchist, book-centric(or whatever) discussion!

Now... how to tastefully add this to the website........

Bonus Episodes are stupid. I'm not doing those anymore. Gotta change the title on my website and feed of that episode. I hate looking at it.

It suggests that you, the listener, are getting something more than what you are paying for. But no one is paying because this podcast is a public service. Licensed under the WTFPL(

I don't even like licensing it, but it has been explained to me that I have to or someone might take it and license it themselves.

If you want to download individual episodes from , now you can!

Go to

It's a classic archive page that I stole from @klaatu from his site.

I mean, it's classic, so it could have been from anywhere, but i specifically stole it from their site because I have copied a lot of Klaatu's stuff... mainly because he rocks.

Anyway, go download everything!

That's the link to subscribe to my podcast, if you haven't already.

Today I just released an episode about The Conquest of Bread by Petr Kropotkin.

This is a very interesting read about a democratically run army. A defensive force rather that the offensive forces that states use today.

Today I learned...

... that Petr Kropotkin's funeral was the last demonstration of 'free assembly' in Russia until 1987. The Bolsheviks even allowed the procession to carry anti-government flags and banners.

How cool is that. He is truly a man to be celebrated.

Look at this lovely man. His name is Petr Kropotkin.

He will be the next that I read for the and I would like everyone to join me. We will be reading The Conquest of Bread, which is probably one of his best known works.

Here's a link to download it directly:

If you checkout the Anarcho Book Club Library, you can find other works of his as well.

I hope you enjoy! Now I must go read.
