Erik Satie - PARADE (1917)
One of the few orchestral pieces by Satie, this one for a Jean Cocteau's ballet.
#Pataphysics
After the first performance, on 18 May 1917 at the Theâtre du Chatelet in Paris (while the Big Bertha threatens the French capital), the critic Jean Poueigh writes:
"Nonsense, banality and ineptitude,"
to which Satie answers with his famous phrase:
"You are an ass, but an ass without music."
Satie will go to jail after this altercation and will come out of it only thanks to the repeated interventions of his friends.
@PseudoNovalis I find that musical piece quite lovely (in your post right before..)
Not AT ALL bad! Pretty freakin' SWEET, actually - and my musical taste is quite refined (i've heard a lot of music in my life..)
